I am a Strategist, Marketer, and Community Builder by trade. I love building communities and experiences and am particularly interested in building authentic and impactful relationships.

Communities are not just about numbers – it’s about the quality of members and relationships between them – and I strive to build the best community experiences.

I have a background in Engineering, an English degree (English Literature, and Rhetorical & Professional Writing) from the University of Waterloo, and an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from the Schulich School of Business, York University. I am also an active alumnus at the Schulich School and am always interested in building our community.

I am fortunate enough to have served MDS Sciex, IBM, Palm, Apple, Genesis Microchip, Logitech, GTAA, STMicroelectronics, and other reputable firms. I’m currently the Open Platforms Lead at Microsoft - and I work with communities, governments, start-ups, non-profits, and charities to ensure they reach their goals through technology and strategy – and I love it!

And I count myself extremely lucky to have a large, loving family, an incredibly supportive circle of friends, and live an amazingly rewarding life. I absolutely believe in living in the moment – everything I do I must enjoy and love – otherwise, it’s just not worth it.

But of course, this is only the beginning… there’s much more than meets the eye (yes, I’m a geek).

Dear Keith,
I am associate professor in English at Waterloo, and newly responsible for the dept. blog. As part of that I’ve been conducting alumni interviews over email and posting them (see http://englishatwaterloo.wordpress.com for examples). I’m wondering if you would be interested in being profiled. Best, Jennifer Harris
